Tell me about Young Throwback?

Reginald Brown aka Young Throwback was born in Savannah GA & grew up in East Atlanta Zone 6. Growing up, i had a lot of responsibilities to fulfill as a provider for my family. Hanging around people, all from different places, made me mature a lot faster than the rest of the kids my age. I’ve been through ups and downs in my life, but throughout it all, I am a better and stronger person.

Who are your musical influences and why?

I have a lot of love for everyone. Everyone has a story to tell and we bring different aspects to the table. For some of us, its more than just music. Its an outlet.

What prompted you to venture into Hip-Hop?

Music has been in my life from the beginning. Growing up around people that motivated me kept me going. So many people influenced my life, all of my family locked up or down the road, my friends, my bruh Gucci, Waka, OJ, So Icey Ent., and Bricksquad, that's all I knew.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

I cannot categorize my music with anything that is out right now. I have my own sauce that I've created and people wanna taste the sauce. lol. Check me out.

What do you have as an artist that makes you stand out among the rest?

I rap about the things in my life based on true stories, about my experiences. My music, sound, and everything is different from what is currently out.

What is your favorite part of performing?

The adrenaline rush of being on stage and the crowd rapping my music is an amazing feeling. I just get a rush out of every step of the moment.

What can your fans expect on the album you are currently pushing?
Currently I am pushing Red Bulls & Molly with songs like "Gone", "50G's", and "5%." My mixtape came out on November 22nd 2012, "Thanksgiving day." Its called "Secret Sauce Mind on Millions." In this mixtape, I have featured artists such as O.J. Da Juiceman from 32Ent., Champagne from Cashout Ent., Popsosa from MMM, Tana Str8 Cash from Straight Cash No Change plus a couple more.

Any advice for upcoming artists?

Never settle for less. Know what your worth and keep pushing forward.

Where can your fans find more info?

My music is on LiveMixtapes, youtube throwbacktv1, I'm all over Twitter and Instagram @YoungThrowback, www.YoungThrowback.com, www.coast2coast.com, www.coredj.com/firstrounddraftpick, and wordofmoufradio.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

I've been through so much that nothing really surprises me anymore. I'm really down to earth and easy going but for the most of the part, I like to work and I like to get things accomplished. I want to give a special shoutout to my Money Mafia Family, ALL Ent., and everyone who has helped me with my projects. Salute all the DJ's and Promoters. We headed to the top!

The Hype Magazine Interviews with Throwed Ese

Tell me about Throwed Ese?

I'm an Artist from Texas, who loves music and works day in and day out, to perfect this craft of mine.

When did you first become interested in the pursuit of Hip-Hop?

Around the age of 13. My older cousin from Harrisburg, PA moved to Texas and he used to do a lot of freestyling. I was just blown back by the fact that he could do it so I began to try to freestyle myself. Before I knew it I started writing and attempting to put actual songs together. I recorded my first song, in a decent home studio, when I was 15.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

Diverse. The reason why I say diverse is because my love for music pushes me to write great records, not just Street records, Pop records as well as R&B records and any other genre of music, as long as it sounds great.

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

I listened to all the greats who were hot, when I was growing up. Bone Thugs, 2 Pac, BIG, Dre, Em, SPM, UGK, etc.. That list goes on and on.

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

I'm Independent at this point in time.

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

I'd say its definitely a huge Southern influence on my sound but I take things I like from other regions and mix them into what I already got going. I do this to intensify and enhance my style.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

Yes and No. I feel politics put a lot of the wrong artist on which is why their is so much scarcity in artist longevity nowadays but at the same time Music Execs are consistently looking for the next possible Wayne or T.I. so their listening now more then ever to who's on that constant grind and paying attention to underground artist a whole lot more.

As for the immediate future, what's next?

Well I just released my New Mixtape "Business As Usual" for Free download on my website www.ThrowedEse.com. We are dropping Music Videos every month and setting up for the next chess move. I have my next mixtape already in place and ready to go for the first quarter of 2013. We'll most definitely announce that when the time is right . Right now you can just go download your Free copy of the "Business as Usual".

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

I think I'm still looking for that moment honestly. The world is crazy, so I don't get surprised by much, but I do consistently look for those "I can't believe this" moments.

Tell me about Stylez?

Stylez is a Dancehall-Pop artist born and raised in Portmore Jamaica, and now resides in North Carolina. He is creative, a free spirit, and dears to be different.

When did you first become interested in the pursuit a career in music?

It was when I was in high school, my friends and I decided to start a group name T.M.X., true musical Xperience. We made a vow that we would make this a career, but it wasn't until after school that i took it to another level. I worked full time and was always in the studio.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

Enigmatic, because i am unpredictable, mysterious, and spontaneous. If you listen to my songs and watch my videos you will see my image changes. My flows and melodies are also versatile.

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

To be honest I really didn't have one but I had quite a few. From Celine Deon, Micheal Jackson, R. Kelly, Beenie Man, Supa Kat, just to name a few, I listen to everyone.

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

Strictly Indie, all day, everyday, until a suitable major approaches me.

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

Stylish and entertaining

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

I have to say Hip-Hop has taken a really sad turn to the dumb side of life but i love underground hip hop because that's where all the real hip hop is. I am not happy with mainstream hip hop at all.

As for the immediate future, what's next?

More Singles, the release of my EP in 2013, features in magazines, and etc. Just greatness man pure greatness!

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

I have had quite a few! One time a fan approached me and said, “I love u Stylez” and then she just flipped and started cursing me out like we were a couple or something. That iiisssh was crazy man!

The Hype Magazine Interviews @IceDude

Tell me about IceDude?

A Hip Hop Artist from North Minneapolis, MN that adores and accepts his role and presence in the
underground market as a Minnesota underground pioneer. I have been a household name in Minnesota and the Midwest for 10 yrs. IceDude has sold 55,000 mixtapes out of his trunk and is still grinding like he never sold one. IceDude is an artist with a lot of passion and a different type of flow...raw yet hood, you can hear pain and it'll make you bounce in the club! Never drug or murder music, EVERYTHING is IceDude's LIFE. He's been touching shoulders with industry artist for 8 years and never once asked for anything or has he ever gotten star struck. IceDude knows he's the real answer to the void of real spirit touching hip hop.

When did you first become interested in the pursuit of music?

I wrote my 1st rap at age 8and I've been making mixtapes and touring since 2002.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

REALITY. I refuse to make pointless music. I work hard to make music you can listen to decades from now. I don't have major money, being underground.

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

Some of my biggest influences were Scarface, LLoyd Banks, Beanie Sigel, Pastor Troy, and The TARRY TOWN RANGERS.

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

I signed myself to my own label CNC RECORDS in 2008. This is where I will remain until a label signs my whole company.

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

I call it Raw Reality. It's a raw sound, yet complete reality.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

Not the industry, it's WWE, all made up characters with loud mouths, I love the underground though, it's where I dwell.

As for the immediate future, what's next?

My new Mixtape, “iGRIND” will be released very soon. That's all I am focused on. It's a testimony of my life, I am revealing my deepest secrets and most vulnerable moments. It's legit pain music. I don't care how anybody feels about it, just my story.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

Well I have a few. First is when I met with Universal Records about my movement, I was told that Diddy was caught on his cell phone getting head from a white man. NEXT: Is how Lil Wayne kissed dude and nobody said shit about it, I peeped how he put out a false report about him having a seizure to cover it up. Aw man! That's just a few WTDTA moments.

The Hype Magazine Interviews New Yitty

$

A product of the East New York section in Brooklyn, N.Y., New Yitty (which means New York) learned some of life's harsh realities at a very young age. Born to teenage parents, he and his Mom bounced around for a while until they found a home of their own in Louis H. Pink Houses in Brooklyn. Yitty recalls ducking shots & witnessing drug sales very early on in life. "It was just normal. You hear shots, you get down." But by age 6, Yitty & his mother got news that his father was killed in West Virginia.

In 2002, Yitty began his music career recording in a group with another local artist called the Great Onez, but was very short lived. In 2003, New Yitty was arrested & convicted of "Possession with The Intent To Distribute in association with a Firearm" in Huntington, WV. He was sentenced to 57 months in Federal Prison & his dreams of making it in the rap game were brought to a complete stop!

After Being Released From Prison, Yitty dropped his debut mixtape New Jack Yitty in 2008. The mixtape however, hosted by PF Cuttin (of Blahzay Blahzay), failed to generate the attention that Yitty felt it deserved. Yitty decided to take some time to find himeself as an artist. He began doing local showcases, getting placements on countless mixtapes, doing online radio interviews & anything else to increase his buzz.

Summer of 2011, Yitty jumped back on the scene with a bang releasing his follow up mixtape New Yitty State Of Mind which featured the likes of Sean Price, Uncle Murda & an All Star lineup of New York underground artists. The mixtape led to placements on tons of other mixtapes, video features on NahRight & 2Dopeboyz.com and most notably a Nomination at The Underground Music Awards for Most Promising Male Rapper.

By January of 2012, Yitty & business partner Claude Jenkins had created 24-7 Music Group, LLC (Twenty4Seven) & were ready to release Yitty's new single "Work It" featuring Jim Jones & Yo Gotti! The song to date has been played on radio stations all across the country and has reached upward of 100,000 views on YouTube. While Promoting This Blockbuster single, Yitty is currently prepping the release of his follow-up single "I Aint", putting the finishing touches on his new mixtape & EP Mr. Twenty4Seven. Taking a more business approach to things, New Yitty has begun branding & merchandising with the sales of Twenty4Seven Clothing & Apparel that currently has the streets on fire!

When asked where he sees himself in five years, he replies, "I see myself as one of the premier faces & names in the music industry as an artist & as a businessman. I'm not chasing to be an overnight celebrity. I want to be a long term success story.

Tell me about New Yitty?

I'm Just Cool.  I've Been Through & Done So Much That I Can Relate To So Many Different Kinds Of People.  I'm From East New York, Brooklyn.  I Played HS Football and Went To College For A While. I also Have Twins. The Diversity Of People I've Been Able To Interact With In Life And The Experiences Are Crazy!  I Have Seen And Been Through So Much That I'm Able To Talk About A lot Of Different things In My Music. I'm Honest And Authentic.

When did you first become interested in the pursuit of Hip-Hop?

I'd Say Realistically Around 2002.  But I Got Locked Up In 2003, So I Got Stopped Before I Really Got Started.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

Authentic.

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

I'm Not Signed To A Major. I Do Run My Own Company, 24-7 Music Group, LLC (Twenty4Seven) With A Couple Of My Business Partners.

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

My Style Is Pretty Laid Back.  I Like Music That Puts You In A Vibe. Music You Can Drive To & Clear Your Head.  If You Just Got A Haircut & A Fresh Car Wash, Got Some Bread In Ya Pocket, A  Bad Joint Riding Shotgun, So You Feeling Like That Guy kind of music!  There's A Song To Fit That Mood.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

The State Of Hip-Hop Is Great To Me.  There's More Opportunities Than Ever Before.  All Types Of Ways To Make Money.  Commercials, Movies, TV, Etc.  Hip Hop Is Everywhere.  I Think That all That's Really Missing From Mainstream Hip-Hop Is Me!

As for the immediate future, what's next?

Right Now We're Pushing My Single "Work It" featuring Jim Jones & Yo Gotti.  My In-Studio Video Got Approx. 115,000 Views On YouTube.  We Started Shooting The Official Video already.  I Just Relaunched My Website www.NewYitty.com.  New Music, Videos & Twenty4Seven Apparel On There.  I'm Putting The Finishing Touches On My Next Big Mixtape "Mr. Twenty4Seven", Which Should Be Dropping Sometime In January.  We Already Got Jim Jones, Yo Gotti, Fred The Godson, & Trav On It, So I'm Kind of Busy.  I’m Clocked In, Putting In  Work!

"Where They Do That At?!" I Think I May Be The First/Only Person To Post A Instagram Pic From A Cell... Literally!

The Hype Magazine Interviews Leo Simone

$
0
0

Tell me about Leo Simone?

There is so much to tell about Leo Simone that not only would I not know where to begin, but most importantly, I wouldn't know where to end. Getting to know about Leo Simone is something you'd just have to "Get to know".

Where are you from originally?

I was born In Queens, New York, where I lived parts of my young childhood life. I moved to Long Island in middle school, so I’m from Queens & Long Island.

Describe your style of music?

I describe my style of music as one word, "Universal." I like to say universal because my priority as an artist is to create universal music that everyone can relate to no matter who or where you're from. I need my music to be able to attract all ears excluding no one, everyone should be able to enjoy Leo Simone tunes.

Are you currently working with any majors?

I’m actually working on a few things at the moment. I feel that it’s a bit too early to spill all the beans, but if you guys stay updated on my social network pages, everything will soon unravel itself. However, I can talk about this event that I'll be performing in in March, the "South By South West" festival in Texas, with DJ Skee out of Cali, so stay tuned with the updates about that. It’s really an exciting juicy event!

What else do you do outside of music?

Besides music, I love to write stories, mainly fictional. I've been writing since I was 6 years old. It started off with long stories for English class, then I began to write poetry, & from there I started to write music. If I’m not creating, I’m laughing with my small circle of friends & family. I love to spend time with my loved ones but I love to stay inside of music 24/7. It keeps me alive.

Tell me something unique about yourself?

Cool, I'll actually tell you something unique about myself, that would seem unique to others but the normal in my eyes. Something unique about myself is that I can find ways to See In A deep vision clearly in my head, many things that keep the humans of the universe blinded, & I can express it in a way that is "entertaining" to others, & apart of everyday life to me.

Do you feel like your music is everlasting?

I really do feel that my music is everlasting. Especially the deep things that I have written about. Things that most people experience in life, things that are forever. Unless one weird day we all as a world come together to make some changes then I don't see it dying out anytime soon. That’s the type of deep things that I write about.

What should people expect from your upcoming projects?

Expect the unexpected.

What artists are you listening to right now?

Because I've been so in my own world, I haven't been really tuning in as much as I would love to, but lately, I said to myself, I would. So the list isn't long but its a dope list because of those reasons. So when I listen to an artist, first thing I have to do is attract to your flow, then I have to check out other tracks to make sure its consistent. It has to be a decent selection of different meaningful topics to choose from, & then from there you pretty much have my respect. I'm digging Kendrick Lamar right about now, ASAP Rocky, its so New York much love. I think Rihanna is interesting, at this moment more than ever. Pink is back in effect & I’m excited! Love her. Justin Beiber is killing, I like where Miguel is going with it, & I think Drake Is Dope AF! I’m checking for some Joey BadA** and my good friend Fynese He's really dope.

Is there anything you would like our readers to know?

To live to learn and to learn to teach.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know? What?s your CRAZIEST ?Where they do that at?!? moment?

My craziest "Where They Do That At Moment" Is when I Heard Someone Say That They Didn't Like Tupac's Music . *GAGS*

The Hype Magazine Interviews Get20 Union

$

Tell me about Get20 Union?

Loc 300 and SKN met first. SKN was the producer/writer with the studio and Loc was an artist on his own label ND Music Group. SKN started recording songs for Loc’s album and then Loc dropped verses on SKN’s track and vice versa.  Through mutual acquaintances we worked with Money Stacks.  Money Stacks was feeling the vibe and started coming to the studio on a regular basis working on track after track. Then we form Get20 Union original name Geto Union.  We worked with a few artist as Get20 Union then…Money Stacks brought JMD to the studio and we’ve been getting it since then. Recently we added J-Lee to the Union very lyrical artist you’ll be hearing a lot from him. Get20 then Get Money!!!!

When did you first become interested in the pursuit of music?

Get20 Union as a whole has always had a passion and love for music.
We all have been pursuing music as youngins’.  We were all just trying to make music the best way we could.  We were all in different locations going through growing pains…life and music.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

I would describe our style of music as concept / variety music.  We have songs for all occasions.  You can play certain songs in the club, While your with your mate, in the hood, or if you just wanna kick back and just zone out.  We gave the people a Halloween mixtape this year HalLOCween G20 and also some political songs talking about our side of politics.

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

West Coast: Tupac, NWA (all members) E-40, Too Short, Spice-1, Snoop and the whole Dogg Pound and many more. East Coast: Rakim, Biggie, Nas, Jay-Z and Wu-tang and many more.  There so many artists we like as a unit SKN would go for hours on this subject.  We love music all music.

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

We are a Union of independent artist.

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

We could fit in different classes.  We make a variety of music. We make music for everybody.  You can feel what were talking about when you listen to G20. We like to paint pictures for our music listeners.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

This topic is 50/50 with our Union. This is another topic SKN would go for hours on LOL. The state of hip-hop is at an “it is what it is” state.  You can either take it or leave it. There are artist that go hard and then there are some artist that would be a lot better with development. The independent market is crazy it always has been but you get a little bit of everything and it breaks up the monotony that’s on the radio at times.

As for the immediate future, what's next?

Always-new music.
J-Lee: Mack Truck Turner
Money Stacks: Veteran Freshman
Loc 300: The Trillion dollar LOC: Loc-3biase.
We are looking to expand internationally. We are also work with the youth.  We talk to youth who are interested in music but are in trouble with the law or having trouble in school.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

There was a studio session when we recorded Lost Soul.  There was a poet who we connected with cool guy though.  At first he was uncomfortable because he wasn’t used the hood ways as he would put it.  He then got comfortable saying that he felt good that he was down after the recording so he started doing Kung Fu in the middle of the street he had Kung-Fu weapons and everything.  “Where they do that at?

It’s cliché as eva…but I’ve been interested in music since I was a little girl…I used to pretend to be downtown Judy Brown – a European VJ…I used to make tapes to send to Star Search – but no one(my parents) would ever send them…always did plays and musicals in high school…I was on the high school choir and I sang in church…me and my cousins used to make up songs about how bad it was to drink and drive…and when my mom had a house phone, I made up a song to sing at the beep…I did jingles for local stores in South Carolina – jingles that they still play on the radio and television to this day…I’ve always been ‘bout this life…it’s innate…

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

Classic

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

Tina Turner, Mary J Blige, Prince, Whitney Houston, Madonna, Regina Belle, Karyn White, Ace of Base, Xscape…my mom had these on blast every Saturday morning when it was time to clean the house!

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

Indie baby!

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

My style is dope neo-classic…that sounds awful of me to be calling myself dope…but I do enjoy singing the way I speak – it’s always a fresh and honest take on classic life situations – love, lust, lies, confusion, joy, partying etc.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

Yeah…I mean, today’s hip hop is a reflection of what’s going on -_- Unlike the 80’s hip hop when there was like a lot of racial tensions, the crack epidemic was going on – rappers had heavy messages with slick flows…today, messages aren’t that heavy (not to say that there isn’t some heavy things going on – no one is capitalizing on those types of opportunities)

As for the immediate future, what's next?
I am writing with lots of artists! As well as working on my stuff when I can – early 2013 Nikkilla the EP will be out finally!!! But lately I have been a studio rat! That’s my favorite place to be though…in the trenches!

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

Oh my…well, let’s see…last month, after a show, we (my cousins, my sisters, and my friends) went to a kickback at my homeboy’s house and somehow we all ended up in his pool…but no one had bathing suits – and it was some big body’s out that night! #WhereTheyDoThatAt !!!

A Carolina Rap Monster with A Rebellious Grind

A fiery hook, catchy bars, reality lyrics, and consistent magical production, is what you can always expect from Shabere Dorsett, who goes by rapper and born name Shabere. The Johnson County repping Carolina star uses his brutally honest personality along with his keen ability to spit sharp lyrics to grow a loyal and diverse fan base. The Carolina star on the come-up takes every possible measure he can to run with the majors in the league of hip hop.

Known for his Shabere Is Here 1 project billboard advertisement on a major highway of Johnson county, Shabere has presently completed three consistently ear-buzzing mixtape projects, involving high demand dj’s and producers. While Shabere Is Here 1 broke the introduction mold of this focused artist, as planned, Shabere is Here 2 stamped this venom spitting emcee undeniably official.

Shabere Is Here 2 dropped this summer, hosted by the infamous Trapaholics DJs, containing hits produced by producers, Metroboomin, Black Jeruz, and Gotti. Presentation and smart marketing stays at the top of Shabere’s S.Y.N.S. [Start Young Never Stop] Clique’s lists of missions. The cover artwork on all three components of the hip-hop trilogy, have an artistic similarity, which runs consistent with Shabere’s original style. Shabere Is Here 3 is soon to shake up the independent scene. The young energetic rap star hosts his own shows for the comfort and ear-focus of his own fans. Shabere also keeps his music freshly packed and sealed in stores all across the Carolina’s as well as sporadic cities across the country.

Shabere’s radio spin friendly tracks get love on stations across central Carolina and internet radio shows with heavy following. A closed mind will never fit the description of his hungry underground artist. Shabere had the opportunity to serve 4 years in the US Army, where he watered his world perceptions. His aim to affect a larger crowd than the small region he represents in N.C. proves itself in his high quality music.

Inspired by the true rap generals of hip hop south such as Master P, UGK, and T.I., Shabere recognized the heavy importance of painting a realistically vivid picture. The N.C. artist lives by the design that music has to be honest, and if one can’t build fans at home being oneself then one can’t build fans anywhere else. He’ll often endorse the idea that “It helps to be yourself, because that breeds respect from the people around you – your hood. When you’re able to get the support of your own people, nothing can stop you and it nourishes the music you create.”

You can stay on deck with the upcoming moves of Shabere, such as his next project Gangsta’s Gentlemen and Go-Getters by following him on twitter @ShabereIsHere.

The Hype Magazine Interviews T. Neezzy

Tell me about  T.Neezzy?

T.Neezzy is a 18yr old up & coming artist from Sacramento, California. I just graduated high school this year. That's dope!

Who are your musical influences and why?

I’m going to say Mac Dre off top. Rest in peace Cuddy! Mac Dre was so dope because of his word play, his alter ego's, & the fact he put his whole team on. Thizz or Die you beezy! That's one of my musical influences . I also grew up on 2 Pac, of course. Rest in peace 2pac. A lot of BayAarea music also, like Dru Down, The Luniz, 2 Short, E40 & The Click. The list goes on to Wu-tang, old Jay Z, old school Roc-a-fella, Dipset, State Property, man I can go on for days.

What prompted you to venture into music?

Seeing my older brother Eddy Haskle rapping. I would hear his music & be like "wassup! Let me get on some tracks." He would say "write something & I'll see." I wrote my first 16 in the 5th grade, that was back in like '04-'05. I never recorded it though. I still remember a little bit of it. But I always been a rapper tho just never had a song until i wanna say the 7th grade I went to the lab wit my cousin Steady Stakkin. It was a "Hyphy Movement Song" named Fresh featuring the Asian partner, Diggy Doug (Free That Boy).

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

If I was cocky, I would say "The Best!", but I’m not about to do too much. I'm going to say "Dope," because I'm spitting pure coke. Like every 16 will blow you away, "Pause."

What do you have as an artist that makes you stand out among the rest?

My flow & delivery stands out from other artists because everybody's rapping the same. All the mainstream artists use Ace Hood's flow. I'm different, Yeah I'm different (In My 2 Chainz Voice). I don't sound like any other rapper & that's my word & word is bond.

What is your favorite part of performing?

Being on stage & connecting with the audience

What can your fans expect on the album you are currently pushing?

Bars & Beats, that's basically it. Lyrics & Slapping ass beats, if you like that real authentic Hip-Hop, & not that watered down bull shit the music industry feeds us. My "Food Chain" mixtape, hosted by Dj Cos the kid, is a must cop. It dropped 11/19/12 and I murdered every song on there.

What do you think of today's musical trends?

Its alot of unoriginality. Every rapper out is either overly tatted, rocks snapbacks, smokes weed or weird on some odd future/tyler the creator type shit. Feel me?

Any upcoming appearances?

Anywhere the cash at.

Any advice for upcoming artists?

Keep Grinding & Stay Humble don't let your lil buzz you might have in yo city go to your head. There are a million people trying be rappers. There's always competition. So you always gotta stay 2 steps ahead.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

I live in Sacramento & this is like the Ratchet capitol of California. We were walking after school. Some Ratchet, black, & ashy females bounce out on this goofy looking guy & had him scared. I guess him & this girl got into it at school. Talking crazy, typical high school stuff. The girl got her feelings hurt & that's when stuff got real. Some girls see him, run up on him, and Brah starts apologizing. I mean they had him terrified. He keeps saying “na, we cool, we cool". The females are like "na brotha you mess with her, you mess with me, & when you messing with me...You messing with the mf'ing mob."

She definitely doesn't want people to get it twisted as she has more to her than the sexually explicit lyrics as will be evidenced on her next single. Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

I'm currently not signed and I am a independent artist.

My sound is different and versatile. I make music about everything my generation and what men and women are trying to let each other know about one another.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

I feel that there has been a big change. Some creative, some I wonder how it got where it has ! I never knock anyone else's hustle, but I do understand that times are different. Sometimes I do feel that music isn't the same nowadays.

As for the immediate future, what's next?

Rome wasn't built in a day ! But me and my team "M.E.C.A.P" have some great things in store for alot of ears !

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

Lol, I was watching people perform. When people perform , I stand up and support them. But there was a female artist in there performing, ranting on how she was the best. She got on the stage and threw up on everyone. - Be humble and don't get drunk before a performance. First impression is everything.

The Hype Magazine Interview with R3venge Of The Nerds

$

0
Revenge of the Nerds is a group/writing collective from Los Angeles, California that consists of three members: David Randall, Kyle Coleman and Ramir Vincent. This childhood trifecta grew up inspired by the music of their youth. Not long after adulthood, the three friends separated and pursued individual music careers.

David signed to an independent label that landed him a nationwide tour opening for major acts. Due to issues within the label, David’s debut solo project was never released. Kyle signed to legendary writer and producer Cathy Dennis’ label. He has written and produced for artists such as Jojo, Kevin McCall and Pixie Lott. Lastly, Ramir also pursued a career writing and producing. In 2009 he landed a major placement on
Ginuwine’s album titled “A Man’s Thoughts,” which debuted number one on R&B charts and number nine on the Hot 200. Ramir has since worked with artists such as Gucci Mane, Day 26 and Bun B.

Though the group experienced successful careers independently, something was missing. In 2011, after countless nights of hanging in the studio, David, Kyle and Ramir decided to create a project together. They were influenced by their childhood musical inspirations, including Pharrell, Blink 182, Dipset, and many others. With that, they created a new sound unlike anything in the contemporary industry landscape.

It combines hip-hop, pop, rock and R&B. What began as a “just for fun” project, garnered a lot of online attention once the group began releasing music for download. Notorious hip-hop blogs gravitated toward the group in support of the EP, titled The Evolution of Genre, creating a buzz surrounding the project.

With the help of industry heavy hitters, Revenge of the Nerds is currently developing their authentic sound.

Tell me about Revenge Of The Nerds?
We are R.O.T.N. a California based Urban Alternative band made up of
members Kyle Christopher, Ramir V, and David

When did you first become interested in the pursuit of music?
I think we realized we wanted to pursue music when we were teens. It was just another way to express ourselves, it kept us out of trouble.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?
Innovative... I think its because were not concerned with whats going on in music right now we don't follow any trends we just do what feels right to us.. We don't put ourselves in the box people call Genre.

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?
We have a wide range of influences from Jimi Hendrix to 2pac,N.E.R.D. , Jay-Z, Kanye West, The Doors, Prince, MJ, Stevie Wonder. the list goes on.

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?
We have a couple offers on the table right but we choose to stay indie until we find something we cant do that a label can then will consider partnering with one.

How would you classify your sound and/or style?
Genre-less

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?
I think were getting back to where it should be.. You have people who are starting to become house hold names with out selling out by making a trendy hip hop dance record.

As for the immediate future, what's next?
You will see us doing a lot more music festivals, more videos, more music and continue to grow as artist in the game.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…
Lets just say there's been few wild studio nights lol.

Suga Shane is arguably one of the hardest working names in underground music with the passion, drive and flow to rise to mainstream status.Armed with knowledge, experience and a ferocious spirit, the seasoned vet with a hustler’s mentality is known for mixing truthfulness and confidence with a socially conscious mentality. He can effortlessly flow from club-friendly party anthems and block party vibes to street rock laced with precautionary tales. His music overall remains solid and balanced. Definitely a man on a mission, if you can’t relate to anything else about this rising star, you have to respect his dedication and grind to make it. Suga Shane is currently housed at Mizay Entertainment Inc., a talent management powerhouse, founded in 2007. Pinqy Ring
Pinqy Ring is one of the dopiest MCs I have heard in quite a long time … I would try to put my spin on her and her story but she is so damn unique that in my humble opinion, only SHE can lay it out for you! I will just say that she is one of the newest writers on The Hype Magazine editorial roster but with her lyrical skills, we may not have her for long. Her single “Tickets” with Bo Deal of Waka Flocka’s Brick Squad Monopoly, is an exposé of those fake rappers claiming to be rich or ‘gangsta’ when it simply isn’t the truth.

Pinqy Ring is a high school teacher as well as a rapper…her students really get the best of both worlds from their teacher.  Besides getting the 3 r’s, she can relate to them from a street perspective and as an individual out on her professional grind as well.

I am me. An emcee. That releases her speech on a beat. No police or his chief can hold Misses Pinq to her knees. Woman, Queen. On her dream. On the scene. Welcome. Please, have a seat” Pinqy Ring quote from her website!

In one sentence, who are you?
I am Pinqy Ring, the Puerto Rican Chicago rapper, teacher, poet, journalist, student, feminist, lover, learner, college graduate and chocolate milk aficionado. (from her recent interview with The HYPE Magazine)

Hard hitting rhythms, deadly deliver and a natural ability to ride a track like a professional hobo rides a train, gives the listener one heck of a musical experience.  This is an example of how Hip Hop should be presented, not that skinny jeans wishy washy stuff we get fed on the radio.  Tickets, from her upcoming EP “Herstory” is unique in this day in age and Pinqy Ring delivers like none you have heard in years.

The Hype Magazine Interview with T'Juan!

$

Tell me about T'Juan?

Well first and for most I'd like to thank H.Y.P.E. Magazine for taking the time to ask me about me. Truly appreciate it. I am a recording artist on No Compromise Records, the leader of the Clean League, and also the heart behind the L.G.D.R movement! (LGDR = Live Good Die Right) I was born and raised by a single parent mother "Sennetta Kimbrough" (R.I.P.) along side 3 younger brothers in Jax, FL. I am a proud father, son, friend, nephew, and and whatever else I need to be. (lol) I am a high school drop out who recently went back to get my diploma and enrolled into college. I am the founder of a 501c3 (nonprofit) entitled Project 16. I'm currently on tour with B.E.T. Rap it up along side Jessica Reedy, Prince Sammie, & Joe Claire, Denise Stokes and more. I've been seen on 106 & Park, Planet Hollywood, On Demand and more. I just recently released my first massive single B.A.L.L. produced by super producer Zaytoven, on I-tunes now! I love music, I love life, and I love GOD.

When did you first become interested in the pursuit of Hip-Hop?

I was interested in the pursuit of hip hop every since the Lil' Bow Wow days! However, music is always been apart of who I am.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

If I had to describe my music in one word it will be ALIVE. ALIVE, because it's full of life. It's real. It's realer. And it's the realest! Ain't nothing dead about my music because ain't nothing dead about me! I'm very much ALIVE, and so is my music. My music is me and I am my music. "ALIVE"

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

MICHAEL JACKSON was, still, and will always be the man! Growing up I was always mocking MJ. I remember when I was in middle school I permed my hair and let it sit in too long because I wanted the mike curls, but instead it came out straighter than flat line. I also admired Luther Vandross who was my mom's favorite. T.I. And PSC had me on the urban side though. Oh yeah.... and shot out to Master P!! Uhhhhhh!!

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

NCR is the name of the family! No Compromise Records. It's a MAJOR minor thing ya dig!

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

I leave that part to the people. I just do Good Music. Rather it's hip hop, R&B, rock, pop, country, contemporary, gospel, underground or whatever it may be, it's a piece if me and at the end of the day I just simply make good music. It's real music for real people.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

I love it! I think it's the same as it's always been. It's always been about the hustle, the grind, passion and the come up. I'm sure that I can find a million reasons not to like the state of hip hop, but I realized that the state of hip hop is no more than what I make it to be. I control my state of hip hop because I only listen to what I like. I'm good at hearing what I like and ignoring what I don't. You create our own state of hip hop. If you don't like it don't pay it no attention. I mean don't get me wrong the game could use a few more artist like myself, but then again everything ain't for everybody. Real Talk. At the end of the day hip hop is what you make it. You have the power.

As for the immediate future, what's next?

The clean-up is next! Me and the whole clean league planning a major clean up right now! The game can use some TRUE clean conscious music right now.  We're pushing my single B.A.L.L. and touring with B.E.T. and for me personally I'm trying to score some song writers placements/credits on some majors! My pen game is ridiculous! I'm also putting my first #LGDR high school takeover tour together. Keep up with me on twitter @tjuan I follow back, and shoot me a picture in your #LGDR T-shirts at @tjuanpix on Instagram. Like me on Facebook too at tjuanofficialpage -Look forward to linking up with you!

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

I was just in New Orleans shooting a music video for a song I got called "I like her", and I was chilling in the hotel lobby with the camp, when an old man got off of the elevator in his "FRUIT OF THE LOOM" plaid boxers and walked through the lobby to the front desk, like he pay rent or som'n! I literally looked at him and said "Where dey do dat at?!" Bruh made me feel like I was violating his privacy or som'n! Then to top it off, he walked outside and stood on the curb to smoke a cigarette! Lights out! The END. #LGDR

The Hype Magazine Interview Loc Saint

$
0
0
Sean R. Tamman a.k.a Loc Saint has been making music independently for the last 16 years. Loc's musical journey began in the year of 1996. Loc grew up on welfare and in poverty in a single parent household with his mother and disabled brother in the border city of Bellingham Washington on the southside of town. Even with the strong guidance and love from his mother the statistics were stacked against Loc, and without a father, Loc ran to the streets to raise him starting at a very young age.

Loc was 10 years old and surrounded by a never-ending barrage of gangs, drugs, violence and street life in full effect. Mandatory neighborhood "checkings" were a daily occurrence, getting jumped on the walks to school meant stepping 1 foot out of house was like stepping into a war zone. Loc began feeling thee effects of life in the neighborhood full force. Being too much for a good-hearted young kid to take in, Loc began to write it all down in songs and poems and with the use of an old tape deck karaoke machine began putting raps on tape with local neighborhood homies.

Over the next 2 years Loc became so immersed in the street life that surrounded him everyday that slowly over the course of time it became very natural to him as his heart and persona began to shift and harden at the core. This led to Locs co-operation in drug deals, extreme violent behavior, criminal activity, mental issues, the organization and operation of a clique for order and protection in the neighborhood and facing 5-10 on an attempted murder charge,  all of this and Loc was barely turning 13 years old. In the midst of the drama Loc would write, detailing stories of the struggle of life as seen through his eyes and where he came from in his raps. Known for being crazy, one to do what no one else would do, as well as his organizational skills to bring things together and make them happen, Loc earned  the street alias Loccapone, he released his first album "Broken Mind" at the age of 15 and went on to self-release 3 more albums under his street name. It wasn't until the age of 18 that Loc had hit rock bottom, and his life began to change in a more positive way.

With a more positive outlook on his life, then Loccapone took on the alias Loc Saint and began pushing his music 100%. In the last 16 years of Locs musical journey he has self-released 8 albums, and worked with artists such as the world famous first lady of rap Zigg-Zagg, and MadeSicc's own Phonk Beta. Loc has been featured on countless mixtapes, radio shows and various artists albums, as well as gained fans from all over the world.

Tell me about Loc Saint?

Loc Saint is the real deal, 100% percent. So many artists now a days build themselves off of an imaginary character or image to fit the industry or something they saw on t.v and thought it was cool, so they imitate, but when it comes to me, I've always been me and I always will be me, my life, my story, my music is all real. This is truly, what I feel to be, unique about me as an artist, from the ground up Loc Saint is a never ending true life story, and people want that, they need that.

When did you first become interested in the pursuit of Hip-Hop?

I was 10 years old, already wrapped in a lot of problems on the streets and problems from my life and the cards that were dealt me, I had a need to get it all out. I would get into alot of trouble trying to get the frustrations and anger out at this age, but I would also write poetry and poetry mixed with my upbringing just naturally turned into raps.

If you could describe your style of music in one word, what would it be and why?

Versatile. Why? Because I feel as tho my music bridges gaps between genres. Ive had so many people tell me that they hate rap music, but love my music and that really speaks volumes there.

Growing up who were/are some of your biggest musical influences?

I had a record player since I was really young, and I remember playing Marvin Gaye, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell records all the time. That really influenced me since there music told a story.

Are you currently signed? Or, are you strictly independent at this point in time?

I'm Indie. I've tried to get signed for the last 16 years and I've sent over 1000 demo's in to labels with no luck. Its been a real roller coaster of disappointments, I've had a few major opportunities that all fell through due to learning the shadiness of there foundations. Im still currently trying to get signed to a major record label.

How would you classify your sound and/or style?

I would classify my sound and style as truly unique, creative and free. When I hit the studio to record a track or when I sit down to write a track, Ive learned in my 16 years as an artist that having no boundaries on your music is what makes it beautiful and what makes a truly unique song.

On a more serious note, are you happy with the current state of Hip-Hop?

NO!! lol. That's a major no. In the words of fellow artist Twisted Insane, "I got a condo round my neck girl im cashing out, WTF?" hahaha, seriously folks, the state of hip hop is a joke. Almost every artist is a gimmick, a fake image used to sell Cd's and there music truly reflects that.

As for the immediate future, what's next?

My new album "Beautiful Mynd" dropped on Oct.23rd and is available @ www.thereallocsaint.com and is doing well. I am amping up to take the album out to the streets with live performances planned this upcoming year and maybe a tour? The next album is already in the works and has 3 songs done for it...going fast.

Last but not least, HYPE wants to know…What’s your CRAZIEST “Where they do that at?!” moment…

My craziest moment is when I died and went to hell, called out for jesus while I was falling into the pit, and the light of God came down and pulled me out and brought me back to life, that rite there will always be my craziest moment ever in my entire life. The story is long, and if asked I can present a full detailed account of how I got the name Loc Saint.
