FIFA World Cup 2014: Should Luis Suárez Be Banned?

$
0
0

Uruguay and Liverpool superstar, Luis Suárez, is simply no stranger to stealing the headlines as he is controversially creating them; Suárez's two decisive goals effectually sent England crashing out of FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. Throughout the course of the South American's successful career, the polarizing striker served a lenient ten week sanction for intensely racially abusing Manchester United and France defender, Patrice Evra (Uruguay is 4% Black, with Suárez later refusing to shake the accomplished Frenchman's hand post-suspension meeting) in 2011, as well as being disgracefully sent off after handling an extra time headed attempt from Ghana during FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010. Key words such as genius, hero, and amazing are frequently used synonyms with Suárez as are interchangeable with cheat, diver, and bigot when describing the Liverpool megastar.

The man of redemption and reformation largely took a step back in the wrong direction in one fell swoop during FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. During the latter stages of Uruguay's FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 Group D qualification duel with Cesare Prandelli's Italy on June 24, Suárez evidently appeared to physically confront Italy defender, Giorgio Chiellini, in a heated and unsavory altercation which witnessed the rugged Juventus player fall to the ground in grave agony; Suárez simulated to the floor shortly thereafter, subsequently placing a hand into his oral region.

Initially, it had appeared as if the 27-year-old Uruguayan headbutted the Italian after vast provocation from the pantomime villain that is Chiellini, yet FIFA video replay footage and Suárez's victim - Giorgio Chiellini - indicate otherwise. Suárez aggressively bit Chiellini on his left shoulder in a dark moment that has certainly eclipsed Portgual and Real Madrid defender, Pepe, for the most disgraceful scene of the united and inspirational carnival of culture - FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

Suárez has grossly undermined the integrity of the sport, Uruguay, Liverpool, and indeed himself in an indefensible act that serves as the third biting incident in the Uruguayan's successful career. Should FIFA take decisive action to suspend the mercurial Suárez for a long-term period? Suárez has turned from hero to zero in a heartbeat.

FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014: Nigeria Reach Final Sixteen

$

0

Reigning Africa Cup of Nations Champions Nigeria officially become the first African nation to qualify for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 elimination stages, after securing a second place finish in Group F with four points; Edin Dzeko-inspired Bosnia And Herzegovina edged out Carlos Queiroz's Iran 3-1, whereas Argentina narrowly defeated a valiant Nigeria, which was vastly favorable for Steven Keshi's mighty African giants (Nigeria are FIFA world ranked number forty four).

Sixteen long years of frustration had invariably passed since The Super Eagles soundly swooped for its prey of contention to cement a place in the final sixteen elimination stages at a FIFA World Cup tournament, with history being rewritten in ninety minutes in Brazil. The revered bygone golden generation of Peter Rufai, Taribo West, Finidi George, Sunday Oliseh, Jay Jay Okocha, Rashidi Yekini, Victor Ikpeba, Tijani Babangida, Daniel Amokachi and Nwankwo Kanu dispelled a once horrid myth - like Roger Milla's splendid Cameroon at FIFA World Cup Italia '90 - that African players were collectively tactically naive and technically inept before strongly emerging into the elimination rounds at FIFA World Cup France 1998; Key Super Eagles players in Ahmed Musa, Peter Odemwingie, Vincent Enyeama, Emmanuel Emenike, Kenneth Omeruo, Efe Ambrose, and Jon Obi Mikel were major catalysts to ensure a dream coming true for a driven Nigeria team at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

It's a new day and era ushered for African soccer on the world stage. Three-time FIFA World Cup winner and the greatest goalscorer of all-time, Pelé, has insinuated that the likelihood of an African nation to clinch the FIFA World Cup will beckon more than before in Brazil. The consensus feeling with Nigerian contingent present in Brazil is one of both relief and tremendous joy, overriding optimism and grace in warrior triumph. As Nigerian's proudly celebrated through the night in Brazil, Nigeria can find rich solace in knowing that The Super Eagles growth in confidence, unity, and rhythm given such an indifference start at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 is a blessing in disguise heading into a challenging elimination game with Didier Deschamps' France; Nigeria - similar to already qualified Greece - were initially deemed too passive, fundamentally basic and widely inconsistent throughout ninety minutes in early group games.

FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 has been miraculously filled with huge upsets, shocking controversy, and epic end to end drama with goals scored almost at free will. Nigeria's history making triumph will undoubtedly inspire a nation, a new generation, and the African continent. The qualification boost specifically sets the tempo for The Super Eagles in what remains ahead in Brazil.

Think Like A Man 2 Review By Courtney Omega

Sticking to the adage of ' You can't miss what you can't measure" I settled into the seat with my boyfriend to watch Think Like A Man 2. We had arrived just in the nick of time, despite being delayed by a parking ticket hang up and a ticket purchase delay. No matter, as we were walking into the theatre, Kevin Hart was just starting his narrative as various actors names were listed in front of the lavish Vegas backdrop. I immediately started smiling and getting giddy as I saw the familiar faces of Regina Hall, Michael Ealy and Meagan Good. I started scooping my mango and cottage cheese mixture while Going into this movie, I wasn't expecting much more than a couple of laughs, good onscreen chemistry and some motivation for my workouts (thanks to both the girls and the guys) SPOILER ALERT There was no girls in bikini walk out of the mall as some print ads suggest.

I pretty much got everything I expected. Though at times it was predictable and trite, it's the little things that count, and no I am not referring to Kevin Hart. It was great to see the brief cameos from Corey Holcomb, Dennis Haysbert and even Drake. Though his appearance didn't top Chris Brown's threaded cameo in the 'Think Like A Man' imagining the contrast of he and Wendy Williams was interesting. I also appreciated the overall appearance of black love working, compromising and progressing despite minor conflicts. I didn't go to this movie expecting to cry or even tear up but seeing Regina Hall's cute pouty face so disappointed, I immediately begin searching for a napkin.

Sure there was one too many scenes that didn't call for Kevin Hart's save-a-movie antics and that Floyd Mayweather scene was as unnecessary as the 'Jersey Boys' referencing but I went into this movie expecting to laugh a little, find value in the fact that such talented actors and actresses were on the screen and relate to the relationship adversities that I am facing or have faced. Relativity is what causes us to appreciate the triumphs and sympathize with the pitfalls of life.

Think like a Man 2 had a victory in the fact that this was a sequel but actually had to be written as though it was nearly an original script. The sequel didn't have a million dollar grossing book to reference this go around. It had to priamarily go on the rich, vibrant, characters that sprung to life from an advice book.

Was the original better? Absolutely, but I wasn't expecting the second to be better. Sometimes more is 'Just enough'' and in this case, it was just right.

FIFA World Cup 2014: Top 10 Goals

Lionel Andrés Messi

Argentina solemly needed something special, from someone very special. FC Barcelona superstar, Lionel Andrés Messi defied the overwhelming odds to deliver a sublime left foot strike from eighteen yards in the dying moments of time added on in a Group C game to enable La Albiceleste a 1-0 win over Iran to qualify for the final sixteen at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. Vintage Messi.

Tim Cahill

Australia's talismanic captain, Tim Cahill, rampantly risen like a kangaroo to the expertly convert a trademark headed goal in the socceroo's opener against Chile. However, the wonderful coupe de gráce was specifically reserved for the 34-year-old New York Red Bulls and former Everton maestro in Australia's second game versus Louis van Gaal's Netherlands. Cahill perfectly conjured a tremendously timed thunderbolt left foot volley from a delightful high cross from the right side, which the Australian star thunderously cannoned off the crossbar and into the back of the net in exquisite fashion on the grandest stage - FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

Arjen Robben

It would undeniably be best described as a Mini attempting to chase a Porsche in soccer analogy. Arjen Robben rapidly accelerated on the The Netherlands break, leaving a herd of clueless Spanish defenders at his very disposal with perfect control, then subsequently firing past a woeful Iker Casillas in a sensational 5-1 victory. The mercurial Dutch master imprinted his name on the tournament from the get-go.

Jermaine Jones

Jermaine Jones punctuated an inspirational 2-1 lead for USMNT with an accurately unstoppable right footed rocket against Portugal from distance. The magnificent goal from the competitive German-born midfielder was certainly one that very few goalkeepers in the world could have claimed to prevent from sailing in. The fiesty Besiktas holding midfielder - not noted for goalscoring - shown the adept precision of a striker in singularly placing Portugal's back against the wall.

Daniel Sturridge

The classy building of the equalizing goal involved Raheem Sterling majestically distributing a timely through ball pass through four Italian players to find Wayne Rooney on the left channel, with the Manchester United superstar superbly threading a well-timed assist on his weak foot (left) past three solid Italian defenders to find, Daniel Sturridge, who issues an vital exclaimation point of a finish that even the legendary Brazilian legend, Romário, would be so proud of. Subtle brilliance and textbook clinical finishing at its finest for the Three Lions.

Robin van Persie

It was a superbly headed goal that possessed the benevolent grace of Marco van Basten, accompanied with the god-given precise touch of Dennis Bergkamp. The clear vision, amazing timing, and mercurial finish of Robin van Persie's leaping diving header past Iker Casillas confirmed the world-class caliber of the 30-year-old Dutchman. A stunning goal that will be replayed for many years to come in the van Persie highlight reel.

Lionel Andrés Messi

Messi radared a rather vulnerable Vincent Enyeama, who co-ordinated - and wildly barked - at The Super Eagles wall to no avail after Argentina attained a free kick in a direct position. The FC Barcelona superstar stunningly swerved a meticulously placed left foot free kick past the helpless Nigerian goalkeeper. The exceptional Argentine's free kick appeared so effortless and graceful, yet so timeless regardless how many times this piece of Messi magic is viewed.

James Rodriguez

The talented AS Monaco star received a brilliantly placed pass via an unsure Japan defense which lead to the talented Colombian to delicately weave, cut inside and humiliate the same Japanese defender before crucially slotting home with a finely confident touch. James Rodriguez has provided hope and excitement for Colombia sans Radamel Falcao. A touch of class.

Neymar

The official face of the tournament - Neymar - cooly opened his scoring account against Croatia in the opening game of the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 with an unorthodox long range left footed strike that subtlely ricocheted off the left post. Neymar set the general tempo of exploits in scoring without failing to deliver, despite the weight of the world on his shoulders. The skillful samba party ignited early for Neymar in Brazil in aiming to secure both the FIFA World Cup and Golden Boot honors.

Luis Suárez

The vast importance of the defining second strike by Luis Suárez against England was simply immeasarable for Uruguay, with lighting gravely striking twice for an England team expected to marginally expose a documented slow and vulnerable La Celeste defense. Suárez's positioning, anticipation, and daunting kiss of death remotely shattered England's ambition of proceeding into the final sixteen. The most positive watermark of an otherwise disgraceful campaign at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 for the now disgraced Liverpool striker.

Reigning Africa Cup of Nations holders Nigeria play one-time FIFA World Cup winners France in Brasilia on June 30 in a widely anticipated final sixteen showdown at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. A monumental Quarter-final berth remains only ninety minutes away, promising what is sure to be an epic confrontation with both determined nations destined to provide a physically intense parade of technical skill and undying will to keep their dreams alive.

Steven Keshi's ever-mighty Nigeria have strategically applied all tactical facets together just in time for their crucial mouth-watering match against France in what has the aura to become The Super Eagles biggest game in Nigerian soccer history. Nigeria appeared superbly fluid, wildly assertive, and ferociously fearless against Argentina in a 3-2 loss that witnessed fine showings from Vincent Enyeama, Ahmed Musa, Efe Ambrose, Peter Odemwingie, Emmanuel Emenike and Kenneth Omeruo.

Didier Deschamps' Les Bleaus shown unmatched solidarity with an unmistakable air of French domineering arrogance in defeating Switzerland 5-1 in their opening group game at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014. Mathieu Valbuena, Paul Pogba, and Karim Benzema have been the documented dangermen in a French side that possesses quality in abundance; France's passing has been incessantly crisp, whereas finishing chances has been lethally potent in part to Karim Benzema.

FIFA World Cup 2014: Belgium vs. United States

United States compete against Belgium in Salvador in a majestic FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 final sixteen elimination clash in faith of securing an elusive spot in the Quarter-finals.

Jurgen Klinsmann's industrious United States stubbornly ignited in holding their own against organized FIFA world ranked number two Germany in a 1-0 defeat in treacherous rain conditions that saw a surge of chances in the latter stages for USMNT; USMNT mathematically qualified into the final sixteen after Paulo Bento's underachieving Cristiano Ronaldo-led Portgual defeated Ghana 2-1 in their final Group G game. Omar Gonzalez, Jermaine Jones, DaMarcus Beasley, and Tim Howard vastly contributed despite a bittersweet loss to Germany; Clint Dempsey is presently the leading goalscorer for USMNT at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 with two goals in three games.

Marc Wilmots' Belgium are noted as the dark horse at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014, whilst comfortably winning all of their group games against South Korea, Russia and Algeria to top the group. Eden Hazard appears in scintilating form, with the inspirational rock in Manchester City and Belgium captain, Vincent Kompany, rallying a deeply talented Belgium team ranked number eleven to the next plateau.

FIFA World Cup 2014: USMNT Game Ratings Soaring In US

FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 fever has reach uber-climatic levels in resonating within the United States like never before. An estimated 25 million Americans (one tenth of the United States population) tuned in live to watch Jurgen Klinsmann's ever-determined USMNT face Portugal in a thrilling 2-2 Group G draw; thousands of Chicagoans also fleeted in downtown Chicago, IL to rabidly view the marquee duel via a large television monitor in public.

When Seattle Sounders prolific striker, Clint Dempsey, scored against Paulo Bento's Portugal, the talented 31-year-old Texan instantly gained trending topic status on Twitter, with an approximate 174,000 retweets per minute sent when Dempsey sublimely netted in 32 seconds against Ghana in the United States opening game; The USMNT national hero was the cover athlete for major publication Sports Illustrated prior to FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper and Ohio native, Brad Friedel, claims the incessant buzz surrounding USMNT will be amplified much further around the nation when the stars and stripes face Marc Wilmots' Belgium in the final sixteen on July 1, whilst simultaneously inspiring a generation not exposed to soccer (i.e, Nebraska, Iowa, Alabama) thus elevating the profile of MLS both domestically and internationally; Jermain Defoe, Robbie Keane, Thierry Henry, Clint Dempsey, Michael Bradley, Tim Cahill, and Obafemi Martins ply their craft in MLS.

'Anchorman 2' Hollywood superstar, Will Ferrell, attended the United States final group showdown against Germany, Jennifer Lopez and Pitbull performed live at the elated FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 opening ceremony, whilst 'Lay It On Me' R&B/Soul star, Kelly Rowland, released 'The Game' in ode to the FIFA World Cup; Rihanna, Kobe Bryant (Bryant was raised in Italy), and George Lopez have devoutly followed FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

Throughout the United States, FC Barcelona and Argentina superstar, Lionel Andrés Messi, was officially documented as a more popular Google search than 'The King of Pop' Michael Jackson on the 'Thriller' legends fifth anniversary since unceremoniously passing on June 25; the Hispanic-American population alone in the United States is 50.5 million (16.3%).

For so many years, the beautiful game was unfairly viewed in the rear view mirror as the unattractive sister to the national pastime and obsession of baseball, football, and basketball throughout the United States. Soccer was essentially seen as - no pun intended - a minority sport associated with Mexican-American citizens, young girls, and suburban soccer mom's who live a middle class lifestyle. White America - primarily of German descent (50 million) - has finally fathomed the importance and beauty of the most popular sport on the planet, with a German-born messiah in Jurgen Klinsmann leading the United States to the promised land in ensuring that USMNT eclipses an all-time television ratings record for the forthcoming elimination game with Belgium; United States also has the most fans in attendance in Brazil.

Kareem Williams Interviews Producer Hassan Connexx Shareef

Bio:

Born in Manhattan, NY on September 16, 1977, Hassan Shareef stepped into the game as one of four brothers. The family’s security of a two parent household was cut short in 1981 when his parents decided to part ways. Soon after the severance Hassan, then four years old, his four brothers and mother relocated to Bronx, NY. Hassan calls his mother, “a go getter before her time.” “I didn’t know it then but there were lots of times she went without just so we could have a normal childhood,” Hassan says . “I learned from the best.” A self made entrepreneur herself, Lady Shareef was always known as an active contributor in the community. She is the founder of ‘Thoughts and Expressions’, a community initiative formed to raise funding for library construction in and around the Bronx area.

Hassan’s serious interest in the music business surfaced at age 15 when he and his friends became loyal fans of ‘The Ralph McDaniel’s Show’, a popular cable 80’s hip hop show based in New York. Just as most music hopefuls carve their start, the group decided to form their own rap trio. The boys monopolized time with music videos and freestyling over beats while their friends could only think of rushing home from school to change into play clothes. When Hassan discovered that a member of his crew’s brother owned a studio a couple floors down, they moved home base from the living room to the new locale. The group eventually recorded their first demo under the supervision of Larry Payne. He would later become one of Hassan’s closest mentors.

The production aspect of the industry intrigued Hassan when he began spending time with Lenny S and Burt Bazin, both Directors of Bad Boy’s street team at that time. Hassan shadowed them both absorbing every aspect of the game. “I ultimately decided that production was the thing for me and that it was where my true passion lie,” he says. Although his focus was deterred for a short period of time, Hassan eventually made his way back to Lenny and Burt several years later. They had since earned executive titles at Roc-A-Fella Records. They offered him an assistant A&R position at the label. Under the new title Hassan’s responsibilities included coordinating studio time and recording sessions while working closely with artists such as Memphis Bleek, State Property, Cameron and Rell.

Soon after Hassan reconnected his roots by joining forces with Larry and long time friend Ali. Together they formed Mad Large Music and began building their brand as a production company and entertainment consulting firm. Work came quickly as the group began spearheading projects for Benzio, Memphis Bleek, A. Cage, and working on film soundtracks such as Rucker Park and State Property.

The Mad Movement was further expanded with the inception of Nobody’s Safe Management, a company founded to foster Hassan’s ability to negotiate deals for artists while simultaneously hustling tracks. The company’s first deal was with indie label Baby Grand where Hassan persuaded the label to sign DK, an up and coming rapper from Baltimore, MD. “A package deal just made sense so we made it happen,” he says.

As if his plate of success weren’t already full, the booming business exec has also taken on the position of Event Coordinator and Associated Partner for Game Sports Magazine, an entertainment and sports publication owned by twin sisters Shenese & Monique Brannon.

Hassan’s immediate priorities include the expansion of his production company and management firm by creating a state of the art upscale recording and artist development facility. “I want to span my wings as far as they will go and be known as someone with a true loyalty to everything hip hop.” Such drive has put Hassan on the front row of entertainment executives making a considerable impact in the industry. Despite all of this, Hassan shyly admits that he will never stop pursuing his love for the game and will always be ‘forever on the hustle’.

FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014: Colombia vs. Uruguay

$

Two-time FIFA World Cup winners Uruguay compete against one-time COPA America Champions Colombia inside the Estádio Maracana in Rio de Janeiro live tonight. The mouth-watering South American feast of action enables Oscar Tabarez's ever-fiesty La Celeste to stand in the face of their toughest challenge thus far at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

Diego Godin miraculously lurked from the back against Italy to precisely convert the decisively winning goal past Gianluigi Buffon in a 1-0 victory in Uruguay's final FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 group outing to advance into the final sixteen; Godin's winning goal eliminated Italy in a proverbial tug of war for second place in the group stages. Luis Suárez - who emphatically netted twice during group stages against England - is unavailable for Uruguay, after being suspended for four months by FIFA for violation in spirit and rules of the game; Suárez aggressively bit Giorgio Chiellini on the shoulder in the most disgraceful scene of FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014.

Sans Radamel Falcao, Colombia have on-form AS Monaco playmaker, James Rodriguez and Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, to mightily spearhead their prosperous campaign against an ultra gritty Uruguay outfit that is very high on endeavor and grinding results; Uruguay are ranked highly amongst leaders in tackles made and successful aerial challenges in Brazil. James Rodriguez - who was named after James Bond - needs to continue his goldeneye for goals if Colombia proceed into the Quarter-finals; Rodriguez has scored three goals in three games for the Colombians.

FIFA World Cup 2014: Argentina vs. Switzerland

$

Two-time FIFA World Cup holders Argentina play FIFA world ranked number six Switzerland on July 1 in a contrasting FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014 final sixteen showcase that holds unpredictability for both nations heading into the vital clash in contention for a Quarter-final berth; Argentina narrowly defeated Steven Keshi's Nigeria 3-2 in their final group game.

Alejandro Sabella's Argentina undertake a Swiss role that appears easier said than done, with Ottmar Hitzfeld's resolute Switzerland routing Honduras 3-0 via a hat-trick from FC Bayern Munchen striker, Xherdan Shaqiri, in their penultimate group showing. Lionel Andrés Messi remains is in exquisite form in netting four goals in three games at FIFA World Cup Brazil 2014; Messi has netted on 42 occassions for La Albiceleste.

Media detractors and cynical fans alike strongly suggest that Switzerland were largely fortunate to reach the final sixteen after an early unconvincing performance (France 5-2 Switzerland), whereas proud Swiss natives would most certainly claim that timing and excessive desire is more favorable for Hitzfeld's side as they reboot on the road to FIFA World Cup glory.

03. American Apparel Girls
04. Ready

Towkio (formerly known as Tokyo Shawn) is an integral and up-and-coming member of Chicago's rambunctious and diverse "Savemoney" music collective. Easily recognized as the most outlandish in Savemoney, Towkio hails from the same (crew/brotherhood) as Chance the Rapper and Vic Mensa. His signature style is found within his music's production: eclectic, unconventional and characterized by a hallucinatory, genre-blending sound. By rapping over production that provoke the emotions and laying vocals on top of it all, Towkio's progressive music makes for a fresh take on rap within Chicago's recent hip-hop renaissance. Following his summer 2012 debut EP 'Community Service', the 20-year-old is preparing to release his full-length tape, '.Wav Theory', in 2014.

'.Wav Theory' is a concept album revolving the idea that energies travel in waves. These waves are invisible yet tangible and surround us at all times. Each song is focused on sound, breaking down the barrier of language to transmit a message or emotion. '.Wav Theory' is an introduction to a way of living, coexisting in both realities.

"My Another Day,” which was a Top 40 hit on the Mediabase A/C chart, was conceived as a healing post-breakup song but adopted by many fans as an anthem about overcoming addiction. It's the follow-up to her first Top Ten single, "I Found Love (Just In Time For Christmas).”

The infectious track, which reached #5 on the FMQB AC40 Chart alongside superstars like Pharrell Williams, Daughtry, One Direction, Imagine Dragons, Katy Perry and Lorde, received a nod in the Best Pop Song category in the April 2014 Music Genre nominations announced May 7.
